Canterbury, located in the southeast of England and having city status from past to present, was invaded and damaged by the Vikings between the 9th and 11th centuries. After the Norman invasion in 1066, a highly defensive castle was built here by the King of Norman.
‘Canterbury Cathedral‘ is one of the important buildings in the city. The main tower of the cathedral was completed in the early 1500s and it took 400 years for the building to be fully built. In addition, a campus of Girne American University, whose main campus is located in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, is in Canterbury.
